Focus Areas

In order to realise our vision, the Jio Institute Digital Library’s scope is vast and diverse in nature. In addition to conventional library functions, equal focus will be given to activities and technologies which augment exclusive world-class collections as well as facilitate the dissemination, sharing and creation of knowledge. Since the Library is in its formative years, some of our initiatives have hit the ground running, while a few others are in the planning stage.

Collections

The Jio Institute Digital Library, in addition to its finest collection of print books and journals, offers hundreds of thousands of eBooks, eJournals, aggregated full-text databases, company/industry/research data, case studies, videos, magazines, newspapers and many more.

Information Access, Discovery and Delivery

The library follows cutting edge information management strategies, extensive indexing technologies, multiple browsing & navigation systems, coupled with smart search & retrieval systems.

Spaces

Library provides facility not only for consumption of knowledge but also for construction/creation and co-creation of new knowledge, creativity, exploration, discovery, invention, and it is technologically enabled. It offers user spaces for student/faculty collaboration, group work, and for individual studying.

Teaching and Learning Enablement

Library imparts user orientation/instruction sessions to familiarize Library resources and services to students, researchers and faculty. In addition, user manuals, guides, tutorials and academic support are provided. Academic/classroom support for faculty is also offered.

Research Enablement

Library offers research assistance to students, faculty and researchers during the entire life cycle of research process. It offers orientation sessions, tutorials, workshops (foundation courses, essential research skills and advanced courses).

Research Data Management

Library envisages curation of research data generated by the researchers, faculty and students. It will impart orientation sessions, tutorials, workshops, and maintains repositories for long term data preservation.

Digitization

A state-of-art media center for user community for content creation (encompassing all formats and media, including 3-D objects), is planned. The center will offer digitization facility for all materials including 3-D materials, and get it visualized using fixed/mobile technologies. Library’s special collections projects will be supported and hosted by the center. The center will host/facilitate digital exhibitions. The center will have maker spaces and will offer design thinking workshops for the users.

Digital Scholarship Center

The center envisages well equipped labs for artificial Intelligence, machine Learning, deep learning, robotics, virtual reality, data visualization, 3-D printing etc. The center will facilitate scholarly activities that has extensive use of digital technologies and tools such as statistical analysis, data visualization and digitization.

Self-Service

Library makes sure that all its users are empowered and self-reliant while they seek for various services, facilities, information and knowledge in the library. To this end, the library offers self operated kiosks, online and machine assisted services, AR & VR Applications, mobile applications etc.
