Technology

Library members are able to search for content using a simple Google like search box , our technology returns granular results from a wide range of publishers, and content types with high accuracy. Multiple research tools are made available for more specific use-cases, a quick look at potential sources of information, finding publications, browsing and searching within exhibits, and finding content in the institute repository.

We are proud to host curated exhibits and special collections at the Jio Institute Digital Library. Library members and in many cases the general public can view our collections of high resolution images. Our technology allows users to study the images for research purposes. Users can zoom into, and pan across parts of individual images, view detailed descriptions and annotations attached to these images and navigate to images, collections, and research related to these images. Our technology uses portable formats that allows us to share our collections with other libraries, and also showcase collections from around the world for our members.

Library users can access all of the library’s digital resources anytime, from anywhere, and using any kind of device. A single sign-in is required to access resources no matter what the material source is and no matter where the user is - in campus or outside of it. Physical material can be borrowed at the library, which runs a circulation desk for 12 hours on all working days. Requests and renewals can be done online.

The Library’s repository technology platform serves as the Jio Institute’s long term memory bank. Our technology is designed to store vast amounts of institutional data including faculty papers, thesis and dissertations, and other multi-media content over the long term
